DDS - NO PEEKING

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.netOMGosh...a couple nights ago, I stumbled on this A-MAZING blog called Doodle Dragon Studios (DDS).  Dustin Pike is CRAZY talented and I immediately fell in love with his characters!  The best part...he gives digital images as freebies!  How awesome is that!?!  *Look under "cool blogs" on this page for a link to his site.*

This is the first time I've colored a digital image so I have to admit, I was a little leery because I didn't know what to expect.  Sheesh...there wasn't anything to worry about.  Easy peasy!

While I was checking out his site, I noticed he offers a challenge where you can win a free digital image.  YES!  The recipe for this challenge requires the use of:  a DDS image (I used a freebie), buttons, stitching and a decorative edge...that's it.  Ok, ok...enough babbling already, let's get to it.

I re-sized the image in MS Publisher (you can use any word processing program) then printed it on Neenah CS using a LaserJet printer.  I colored the image with Copic markers and put Glossy Accents on both the bear's and the monster's noses.  I thought my new star border punch would match the little bear's bed spread perfectly.  It does.  Woot!

Oh man...I do NOT sew!  ARGH!  I wasn't sure how I was going to pull off that part of the challenge then it hit me.  I grabbed my mat pack and piercing tool to make the zig-zag pattern.  Then I used some embroidery thread and stitched it by hand.  Stitching...check!  That just left the button and that was the easy part.  I attached it to the top of my stiching.  OH!  I almost forgot about the words.  Those were computer generated and popped up on Dimensionals.  Here are a couple close ups of the little guys...

I wonder if anyone should bother to tell him "no peeking"?  Don't you just love how monsters count?  Ha!

Thanks for looking!

OCLDT26 - SUNSHINE CHEER

It's been a while since I've done an Our Craft Lounge (OCL) challenge card and I'm glad I did this one.  It was so much fun!  My friend's mom recently had surgery so this will be perfect for her!free smileys

If you haven't heard, OCL has a weekly challenge (a new layout every Friday).  You can find details here.  You even have a chance to win a cool OCL stamp set if you play along!

This was a pretty simple card.  I punched three small circles then used Black Soot ink to stamp the images from OCL's Sunshine Cheer set.  I colored with Copic markers and drew in highlights with a white gel pen (they didn't pick up too well in the pic...you might be able to see them if you click on the pic to make it bigger).  I glued Sparkly Fluff onto the cloud.  Punched three black circles and the red CS, layered everything, paper pierced my layers, added a ribbon and popped up my circles with Dimensionals.

OCL - SNOW PLACE LIKE HOME

Hi there, hope you had a great weekend!  I made this card yesterday and put the finishing touches on it this morning.  It's from Our Craft Lounge's Snow Place Like Home set.  So cute (and sparkly!).  Yahoo...the sparkles show in the pic.  I'm not the best photographer so my pics rarely do the card justice.

Any way...I stamped the igloo with Black Soot, cut it out, VersaMarked the whole thing, sprinkled Heat and Stick powder on it then heat set it.  When it looked gooey, I sprinkled Sugar Crafty Sparkles on it then heat set it again.  I love the way it turned out!

I stamped the igloo again on my panel (this time adding the wreath on the door) then I masked it and stamped the trees in the background.  I colored the door, wreath and background trees with Copic markers.

I stamped a third tree, the snowballs (I applied glitter the same way I did the igloo) and the penguin on a separate sheet of paper, colored then cut them out.  I glued/taped everything together and used Chunky Crystal Crafty Sparkles (that was a mouth full!) for the snow.  I finished it by popping up a Nestie snowflake that I sponged a little color on and added a ribbon.

SU - PENGUIN PLEASANTRIES

Helloooo out there.  *testing 1, 2, 3*  Just checking to see if this thing works.  smiley iconsSo, as you can tell, I'm brand new to blogging.  Hope this works!

I spent the day with my mom yesterday and we finished by digging through my stamp sets to pick out what she wants for her Christmas cards this year.  She picked this cute penguin (not her first choice...sorry Mom!).

I don't normally doodle on my cards, but it seemed appropriate on this one.  The penguin was colored with Copic markers.  The stars on the background were VersaMarked then clear EP and the Merry Christmas was done with VersaMark, SU Night of Navy then clear EP.
