BLOG HOP WINNER...

OMGosh...it's snowing on the OR Coast!  Doesn't the weather guy know it isn't supposed to snow here???  To top it off, I got called in to Jury Duty today and had to drive 1/2 an hour to get to the courthouse.  *sigh*  It's really coming down now.

The winner of the Bird and Groom stamp set from Our Craft Lounge is...Wendy!  Congratulations, Wendy!  The complete list of winners will be posted on The Lounge blog later.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

OCLDT40 - WHO'S YOUR DOGGIE?

OCL is on a roll!  Can you believe all the stamp sets that they are giving away lately?  OMGosh, it's awesome!  The Thankful For YOU promotion will resume on Monday.  If you haven't heard about it yet, they are giving away a set a day (Monday through Friday) until the end of December.  Wednesday was a sneak peek of the new Valentine's release then Thursday was my first ever blog hop where each person on the stop is giving away a different set (it isn't too late to go back and leave comments along the hop if you want to be entered for a chance to win a set).  And today, TGIF, is the new sketch challenge (click on the link for complete details).  At the end of the month, someone will win an OCL stamp set of their choice.  Seriously...how cool is that!?!

Today I'm keeping with the Valentine's Day theme and used a set called Pat the Dog.  Isn't that little guy just the cutest?  There are four coordinating Pat sets:  Pat the Dog, Pat the Good Dog, Pat the Bad Dog and Pat the DAWG House.  I want them all (please)!  Santa, I promise I've been good...well, maybe not good...just not bad enough to join Pat in the Dawg House!  Ha!

Pat was stamped with Black Soot on Neenah CS then colored with Copic markers.  All of the CS was distressed with Early Esspresso before it was layered.  The sentiment was stamped on Creamy Caramel then a ruler and a fine-tip marker was used to draw the line.  The paw prints are an EK Success border punch (love it!).  After the heart was colored, I glued some Rose Pink Crafty Sparkles on it.  Embroidery thread was used to tie knots on the buttons before using Glue Dots to adhere them.  Easy Peasy!
Hey Gale...did you notice the brown and pink!?!  SmileyCentral.com

JUST MARRIED

Hey there all you OCL Blog Hoppers!  If you have been following along from the beginning, I'm sorry to tell you I'm your last stop...I hope you had fun and picked up a tip or two along the way.  If you joined us somewhere in the middle, then keep going...there's still plenty more to see!  Well, today is the day that you get to find out what stamp set I'm giving away as blog candy, but I'm going to make you wait just a little bit longer...I know, doesn't seem fair, huh?

I mentioned last weekend that I took a class and learned a new-to-me technique that I couldn't wait to share.  Well, this is it!  Cami and Kisa (my OCL gurus) showed us how to put a colored image on a tealight candle.  OMGosh...it was so much fun (and easy)!  I couldn't wait to try it out on a little bit bigger candle.  Did you know that you can shade with your Copic markers on tissue paper?  Well, I tried it and you can!  How cool is that!?!

While I was coloring my tissue paper, I thought it would be a nice touch to include a couple champagne glasses and to decorate them to match the candle.  That got me thinking...gotta have a box to put everything in, right?  Bada bing, bada boom...I worked up a template and made the box.  I'm just glad there wasn't anyone at home when I made it.  Dang it if I didn't end up talking to myself!  Ha!

I'm really happy with the way it turned out.  But wait...that's not all!  Don't forget to check out the back.  See that white space above the car.  How cool would it be to include the bride and groom's names and the date of the wedding?  Go ahead, say it...PRICELESS!

SUPPLIES

OCLDT39 - VINTAGE CHRISTMAS BAUBLE

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!  I have been!  I attended two awesome stamp classes at our local scrapbooking store (MOT).  They were so much fun and I learned a new technique that I can't wait to try out.  It's been around for a while, but it's new to me.  I'll hopefully show you my creation later in the week but now onto this week's sketch challenge.  All you have to do to play along is use an OCL stamp set, follow the sketch provided and link your creation to The Lounge blog...you could even win an OCL stamp set of your choice!

This card uses three different OCL sets:  Trim the Tree, Vintage Swirls and Ole St. Nick.  Now tell me if the ornament and swirls aren't a perfect match!

With my Neenah paper still in the Spellbinders die, I sponged three shades of green (lightest in the center all the way to darkest on the outside edge).  I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up and stamp the swirls from Vintage Swirls then used it again to line up the ornament.  I embossed it by first inking my stamp with VersaMark then Cherry Cobbler.  After the image was stamped, I sprinkled it with Heat & Stick Powder and heat set it just until melted.  I quickly sprinkled Crafty Sparkles on it and heat set it again.  Nice and sparkly!  The strip on the side was made with another of the stamps in Vintage Swirls.  The layers are Cherry Cobbler and the DP is from Paper Pizazz.  To finish the card off, I used a Provo Craft die to cut out the tag, stamped the sentiment from Ole St. Nick and tied a little knot with embroidery thread.

This card includes the following challenges:

The Lounge ~ OCLDT39 Sketch Challenge
Anything Goes Challenge Blog ~ Emboss It
Crafty Purple Frog Challenge ~ Time for You to Sparkle
Creative Inspirations Challenge Blog ~ #47 Anything Christmassy/Winter

SWEET HOLIDAY WISHES

Hey there blogland friends!  I'm bringing a little, ooey-gooey sweetness to you today with my new OCL Sweet Holiday set.  So what do you think...it's pretty dang cute, right!?!  I can officially tell you that I'm over my "white" phase.  Yep, tomorrow I'll start digging through the DP pile again to see what I can throw together.  But first I'll tell you about this busy, little card.

The images were stamped with Black Soot on Neenah and colored with Copics.  Once it was colored, Crafty Sparkles were adhered to the candy and Sparkly Fluff to the clouds.  The snow is something new for me.  I found a Snow Marker at JoAnn's and thought I would give it a try.  I'm not sure if I got the texture I was going for, but it is definitely interesting!  The background panels are two different EFs that were double embossed by following Tex's awesome video tutorial.  The sparkle just doesn't come across in the pics, but wow is it there in real life!

The snowflakes were cut with a Sizzix decorative strip then VersaMarked, sprinkled with Heat & Stick Powder and Iridescent Ice EP and finished by adding half pearls.  The car's window and tail lights have Glossy Accents on them...and check out that license plate.  Too cute!  The sentiment was cut with a Spellbinders die.  The candy in the upper, right-hand corner is also a Spellbinders die and I free-hand drew the swirly line before coloring it with Copics and adhering Crafty Sparkles to it.  The ribbon was from my stash.  Oh, I almost forgot...the snow in the sky was created by dabbing my 0 (Colorless Blender) on the CS.  It took a few dabs before it lightened but I like the effect.  I think it would pop even more with a darker sky.

Copic coloring:

Gingerbread house:  E37, E35, E34, E21, R29, R27, R24, C4, C2, C0, BG10  Candy:  R29, R27, R24, G28, G24, G21  Car:  R29, R27, R24, G28, G24, G21, C6, C4, C2, C0, BG10  Ground:  E37, E35, E34, E21  Sky:  BG10, 0  Clouds:  BG10

OH CHRISTMAS TREE, OH CHRISTMAS TREE...

I'm back with another "white" Christmas card.  Are you getting tired of them yet?  I'm not!  I have an idea for at least one more then I'll move on to something else...but I'm not making any promises.  Ha!

Before I get started though, I'd like to take a minute and wish Our Craft Lounge a Happy, Happy Birthday!  They turn 2 this month and want you to know they are so very "Thankful For YOU"!!!  How are they celebrating, you might wonder?  By giving away stamp sets!  Gotta LOVE that, right?  Make sure you read this post for the official rules.

Basically, there are three ways to win.  The first way is to visit The Lounge (Monday through Friday) and comment (one per day) on the awesome samples they will be showing.  Easy Peasy!  The second way is to visit them on their Facebook page (Monday through Friday) and comment (again, one per day) on the samples.  Seems pretty simple!  The third way...pssst...see that blinkie button on my side bar?  Yeah, the one there at the top???  Well if you copy the code and paste it on your blog then leave a comment at The Lounge linking back to your blog to show you have it posted, yep, you could win a stamp set!  It seriously doesn't get any easier than that!!!  Make sure you stop by here to read the official rules before you play along!  Oh...one more thing!  They are posting a daily winner's list that you can check to see if you won.  Good luck!

And now, onto my card...over the weekend, I mentioned an a-mazing Christmas tree...well, here it is!  Isn't it a beauty?  The stamp set is Ole St. Nick from OCL (same set as Santa from my last post).  The tree was stamped with Black Soot on Neenah CS then colored with Copics.  Then it was sponged with Blush Blossom going all the way from the outside edge working towards the tree, Ruby Red going from the edge halfway to the tree and Riding Hood Red focusing on the outside edge.  Once sponged, Glossy Accents were put on the ornaments and left to dry.  The layers were made with Tex's double embossing technique (you can watch her video tutorial here).  What you can't see in the pic...DANG it's sparkly!  The snowflakes are a Sizzix decorative strip that were VersaMarked, sprinkled with a mixture of Heat & Stick Powder and Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.  The buttons and wired ribbon are both from my stash.  The main image and snowflakes are popped up on Dimensionals and Pop Dots.

Copic coloring:

Tree:  G29, G28, G24, G21, T4, T2  Ornaments:  R08, R05, R02  Bow:  R08, R05, R02, R00

...AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

Happy Saturday!  I thought I would work on a couple more Christmas cards this weekend.  This first one is one of my new sets from OCL called Ole St. Nick.  I actually thought it would take a little longer to color because of all the detail.  Uh, yeah, I was wrong!  Santa colored up quick...it took way longer to cut the mask for him and sponge the background!  I was going to say he's probably the best looking vintage Santa that I've seen...but he's not really vintage, is he?  He's more traditional.  He's definitely what I think of when I hear "Santa".  Wait until you see...there's a B-U-tiful Christmas tree in this set too (just like we used to have when I was a kid).  I can't wait to ink it up!  But there's not enough time in the day so that will have to wait...*sigh*...or will it?  I guess I should warn you now...I'm having a "white" weekend.  Yep, I'm going to make a couple more white themed Christmas Cards.  I really like how yesterday's card turned out so I'm going to shoot for a couple more.

Santa was stamped with Black Soot on Neenah and colored with Copic markers.  Surprisingly, there's quite a few gray tones in there.  Don't forget about those Ts!  If you haven't used your Toner Grays...do!  Color your image the way you want it and when you're happy with it, grab those Ts and go back over it where you would normally see shadows.  I know I keep saying it, but they add so much more depth!  I didn't forget about Santa's shadow either...can't have him floating mid-air, now can I?  I ripped a piece of sticky note for a mask so I could sponge the sky then stamped Santa on another sticky note and cut it out.  With both masks in place, I sponged Bordering Blue going from the outside all the way to Santa, Next to Navy about half the distance of the Bordering Blue then Night of Navy just around the outside edge then both masks were removed.  I haven't worked with Fun Flock very much but it's pretty cool...I flocked the snow all the way to the horizon and Santa's shadow came through the flock.  Very cool!  I finished my main image by dotting snow in the sky with a white gel pen.

The layers are all Neenah CS.  The bottom half was embossed with a Sizzix TP and the top was a Sizzix EF.  Then I did the double embossing technique again from yesterday...I'm seriously HOOKED!  If you missed yesterday's post, here is Tex's awesome video tutorial.  The snowflakes are from a Sizzix decorative strip then VersaMarked and embossed with a Heat & Stick Powder / Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder mix and topped off with some pearls from my stash.  The snowflakes were popped up on Dimensionals and/or Pop Dots to get different heights.  I did a little paper piercing, added a few brads in the bottom and the ribbon was from my stash.

OCLDT38 - BELIEVE

TGIF!!!  The new sketch challenge starts today over at The Lounge.  Check out the details on their blog then use your favorite OCL stamp set and play along!  Did I mention you can win an OCL stamp set of your choice?  Yeah, baby!  I've been out visiting blogland again and found a bunch of challenges that I'm going to jumble all together to see what I come up with so here goes...

I started by turning the sketch on it's side.  The snowman and sentiment are from OCL's Be Jolly set.  They were stamped with Black Soot on Neenah Solar White CS then colored with Copics.  Hmmm...for an image that doesn't appear to have much coloring, dang I sure used an awful lot of markers!  OK...so I DID go a little overboard with my Cs...but I just got some new markers and I wanted to see how they all blended together.  Not too bad, huh?  My snowman and sentiment was cut out using Spellbinders dies and sponged with Baja Breeze while they were still in the die (Baja Breeze is a close match to BG10 which is one of my favs for coloring sky backgrounds).

All of the layers were ran through the Big Shot with Sizzix EFs then I tried Tex's double embossing technique which can be found here.  Wow!  Pics just doesn't do it justice!  Maybe it's the glitter on the white that isn't picking up, I don't know.  All I can tell you is that in real life...WOWSERS!  The snowflakes were cut with a Sizzix decorative strip, dabbed with VersaMark, sprinkled with my special concoction *wink* (Heat & Stick Powder and Iridescent Ice EP) then heat set with my heat tool.  I tried to tape everything down but it just wasn't sticking so I switched to glue.  That did the trick!  The wired ribbon and buttons were from my stash.  Oops...I almost forgot...I added some more sparkle to the snowman with Crafty Sparkles and the snow below the snowman is a combination of Sparkly Fluff and Flocking.  Some of the layers were popped up with Dimensionals.

OCLDT37 - NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY

OMGosh...I'm a little late in joining the sketch challenge over at The Lounge but there is still plenty of time to grab your favorite OCL set and play along...you can even win an OCL stamp set of your choice!

As I was coloring these leaves, my mind started wandering and I thought of a Robert Frost poem that was recited in an old 80's movie you may remember...The Outsiders...with Sodapop, Ponyboy, Two-bit and the rest.

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

How about that for a walk down memory lane?  Where were you in 1983?  Hmmm...I was a freshmen in high school.  Good times, huh?

Anyway, about the card.  The stamps are from the Shades of Fall set from OCL.  They are so easy and quick to color and I absolutely love the results!  It's a simple card so there really isn't a whole lot to say about it.  It was stamped on Neenah Solar White, colored with Copic markers and distressed with Walnut Stain.  The center leaf was cut out and popped up on a Dimensional (I used my fingers to curl the tips).  The layers are Early Espresso, the brads are Bazzill and the ribbon is from JoAnn's.  The sentiment was cut out with a Spellbinders die, distressed with Walnut Stain and popped up on a Dimensional.  Guess that's about it.

Copic coloring:

Popped leaf:  Y19, Y17, Y15, 110  Background leaves:  E55, E53,E51, G82. G40, YR16, YR14, Y17, Y15
